“Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience.”

Ralph waldo emerson

Taurus season is a long, deep breath of sweet, fresh air. We’re about a quarter of the way into the season of the bull and after some rapid fire Mercury and Mars energy to start the month off, the theme of May post new moon is stability. Think long term for best results, especially since mercury and venus will also be joining the sun and Uranus in taurus this month (on the 6th and 15th respectively).

Fixed earth flavours the luscious new moon of the 4th, making it a beautiful time of renewal with Venusian, feminine energy. Taurus, ruled by venus, is the fertile earth, and rules over resources, security, patience, tolerance, consistency, dependability, sensory pleasures (croissant anyone?) and beauty. Taureans have style, taste and a knack for decorating their homes and bodies. Now would be a time to utilise these themes in our own lives, particularly around the new moon, aspecting saturn and pluto, both retrograde in Capricorn.

The downside to being so comfortable and steady is stagnation. Where in your life has gone a bit stale? Now is the time to overturn it. Shake out the blankets, get a haircut, buy some plants, whatever it may be. When you are surrounded by beauty, you internalise and project it. what are you soaking up? Honour your idea of beauty now. What you plant in this fertile earth should have staying power, particularly with the three slow moving retrogrades in process. This is not about a quick fix. The most potent self care is the one that enables growth over time (aka taurus).

Let’s talk about those retrogrades, though. First off, these are nothing like mercury retrograde. Mercury is rapid and affects us in very quick, clear, direct ways. Saturn, pluto and jupiter are much slower, and their retrogrades bear subtler effects, like distant rumblings of thunder inching closer together. for this reason, in your natal chart the house is more important than the sign with the outer planets- The sign indicates what we as a society are working with. Locate the house to see what themes you will be working with over this time. The more conscious effort you bring to them, the more resounding the outcome. Retrogrades invite reflection. this is not a time to push ahead in relation to these three planets! Journal around the ideas below to gain clarity.

JUPITER RETROGRADE IN HOME SIGN OF SAGITTARIUS, APRIL 10-AUGUST 11

LUCK / ABUNDANCE / OPTIMISM / GROWTH

Jupiter is the great benefic, or bringer of blessings, and the antidote to misery. saturn got you down? Focus on your Jupiter. Find where you have jupiter in your chart and water the grass there. your natal placement indicates where you have natural luck. Jupiter in the first? During the retrograde You’ll be integrating these concepts with your identity. Jupiter in the seventh? You’ll be working with growth in partnerships over this time. Investigation will open the door to opportunity. Once jupiter goes direct again, you will start to see tangible rewards.

*On a societal level, we are experiencing the erasure of traditional geographical borders and the joining of people and ideas across the globe (Sagittarius) leading to expansion (Jupiter).*

PLUTO RETROGRADE IN CAPRICORN, APRIL 24-OCTOBER 3

SUBCONSCIOUS / POWER / REGENERATION / SEX

Pluto is personal power, ruler of the underworld, and the gateway to transformation. Your natal pluto indicates something you need to overcome in order to really tap into your power, and a retrograde is the perfect time to drill down towards what that looks like. you may experience a constant ‘death’ in this area of your life until it can be reborn as something new. Reclaim the power you may have scattered. Pluto in the fifth? You’ve got some work to do around love and creation, and your issues with obsession. Pluto in the ninth? faraway lands and philosophies may hold the key to your transformation, but probably not without some painful missteps. Pluto is the alchemist turning misfortune into gold.

*On a societal level, we are experiencing the death (Pluto) of traditional power structures and careers (Capricorn).*

SATURN RETROGRADE IN HOME SIGN OF CAPRICORN, APRIL 30-SEPTEMBER 18

MASTERY / DISCIPLINE / DEDICATION / LIMITATION

Saturn is the great malefic, the stern headmaster, and the key to mastery. Your natal Saturn indicates your biggest obstacle in life. Feeling out of control (ie too much jupiter?) tap into your saturn to help you reign it in. prioritise. Saturn in the fourth? You’ve got some deep seated family karma to overcome. Saturn in the eleventh? You have trouble feeling like you belong. You have work to do around loneliness. the good thing about saturn is that once we overcome the issue, we are rewarded with superior command of it. Again, retrogrades provide us with the opportunity to get closer to this. So don’t waste it!

*On a societal level, we are experiencing a schooling (saturn) in success (Capricorn).

So then, it’s a perfect time to employ the tarurean values of patience, tolerance and compassion while we work with this dense but rewarding subject matter! Note how these concepts are tied to the new moon in taurus and consider some associated intentions which will be supercharged around this time and will help you along in your quest. Taurus also loves nature so allow it to be your medicine and your teacher.

The full moon this month occurs on the 18th in the sign of scorpio (ruled by pluto). So expect some of your plutonian side to come to the surface, particularly if you’ve been consciously working with it. Scorpio is the deepest you can go, and carries on the fixed energy of taurus (scorpio is fixed water). this contributes again to the theme of the stability, but this time it has more to do with our emotions. ground down (taurus) to gain emotional insight (scorpio) leading to a sense of security. That’s what may has to offer for us, and after the uproar of the last few months, it should feel like being tucked sweetly into bed, just in time for the cooler temperatures. Gemini season swings in on the 21st, upping the communication and entertainment value, but more on that next month.

for now, some Stunning patient techno from PRG/M in the radiant (taurean) fields.
